This is pretty big...

In fact, it’s huge! Today I’m really excited to finally release Delta Duo NX, my take on a Nintendo DS controller for iPad! Duo NX has been in testing for weeks, and I feel like it’s at a place where it’s ready for prime time!

Let’s talk about the design.

In portrait mode, Duo NX’s Flip form factor is intended to be a true DS experience, with stacked screens and controls on the sides. This means that games that are meant to span both screens play as intended.

In landscape mode, the concept for this design is that if it were a real device, the upper screen would slide up, and reveal the bottom screen, having an emulator command menu and the bottom touch screen.

I wanted the lower touch screen to be offset from the center, so it could be more easily reached with your right thumb, for games that mostly use the lower screen for button menus like Pokémon, or camera controls like Kingdom Hearts: 358-2 Days.

A Strong Family Resemblance

Duo NX is also the culmination of lessons learned from Pocket Duo, Ultra NT, and NT Flip over the past year! If you love the detailing, shadows, and textures in my other skins, Duo NX has all of that, too!

At launch, Duo NX comes in all 13 of the same solid colors as its iPhone counterpart; inspired by original DS and DS Lite colors.

There are also 16 Special Edition designs, reimagined for these new handsets, including new entries like Neue White, Neue Black, Goo, Princess, and Silver.

There are almost too many Special Edition designs for me to show off in a way that makes sense here, so check out this post for a preview!
